MEDICAL CARE POLICIES

All residents at ONeNess Foundations Diaspora USA, Inc. must have a medical exam by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to admission or 30 days after admission. On-going routine medical care will be provided according to the physician’s recommendations.

 

The Administrator will be responsible for making arrangements with a licensed physician to meet all the medical needs of all the children. The Administrator will also make all medical appointments for the residents. A member of the staff of ONeNess Foundations, Caseworker, or Facility Officer, as appropriate, may take the resident to appointments and will stay with the residents at the physician’s office. All visits to the physician’s office will be documented in the children’s file. Information must include the reason for the visit, the date, treatment provided, and any recommended follow-up. Each resident will receive annual medical examinations.

 

In case of an emergency, the staff is expected to take the resident to the nearest emergency room. In the event of an emergency, staff is expected to render first-aid and CPR. (All staff is required to be certified in first-aid and CPR). If the staff believes that the situation requires additional emergency attention, the staff must contact 911 immediately, then the Administrator.

 

All ONeNess Foundations Diaspora USA, Inc. staff members are expected to use good judgment in deciding whether the child can be transported in a car by staff or whether to phone 911 for emergency medical staff. Staff on duty transport residents to the nearest Hospital.

 

The Administrator or CEO must be notified, once the resident’s prognosis status has been stabilized. All information and transportation information will be documented into the resident’s file. For all routine and emergency medical care of residents the staff accompanying the resident must take a copy of their medical files and prescription medications.

 

DENTAL CARE POLICIES

All residents must have a dental exam by a licensed dentist within six months prior to admission or within 30 days after admission. On-going routine dental care will be provided according to the dentist’s recommendations.

 

The Administrator will be responsible for making arrangements with a licensed dentist to meet all the dental needs of all the children. The Administrator will also make all dental appointments for the residents. A member of the staff of ONeNess Foundations, Caseworker, or Facility Officer, as appropriate, may take the resident to appointments and will stay with the residents at the dentist’s office. All visits to the dentist’s office will be documented in the children’s file. Information must include the reason for the visit, the date, treatment provided, and any recommended follow-up. Each resident will receive annual dental examinations.

HEALTHCARE TO A CHILD WITH PRIMARY MEDICAL NEEDS

ONeNess Foundations Diaspora USA, Inc. has staff trained to handle children with medical needs. All ONeNess Foundations Diaspora USA, Inc. staffs are required to train in the followings areas:

  • First Aid

  • CPR

  • TMAB

  • Health & Safety

  • Medication Management

  • Universal Precaution

  • Pharmacology

  • Obtaining Vital Signs

  • Management of Diabetes

  • Infection Control

  • HIPAA/Confidentiality

  • Use of 911 for emergency situations
